Survivors and Dependants Benefits

 

The VA offers a wide range of benefits for the surviving spouse, dependent children and dependent parents of deceased veterans and military servicemembers.

Spouse benefits include Dependants Indemnity Compensation (DIC), death pensions, Survivors and Dependant' Educational Assistance Program (DEA) (including counseling and work study), CHAMPVA medical insurance, vocational training, and home loan guaranties.

Child benefits include the same programs that are available for spouses (with the exception of home loan guaranty). A child dependant's CHAMPVA coverage would include benefits for spina bifida if they are a child of a Vietnam veteran.

Parent benefits include Parents Dependency and Indemnity Compensation and other related programs.
